It is still possible to be pregnant when your home pregnancy test is showing a false negative. This result can happen to the following circumstances:
- You have taken the test too early, the earliest you should take a test would be 14 days after conception
- The test has not detected the hormone – ‘Human Chorionic Gonadotropin’ (hCG) in your urine. I.e Although your ovum is fertilized, your body has not yet secreted enough Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) for the test to measure
- The test strip you used did not catch an ample amount of urine
If you have had a false negative but suspect that you are pregnant – wait at lease a few days before you test again as there will be more of a chance of rising (hCG) levels in your urine.
