Can I freeze Cheese?

August 2, 2009 No Comments

Yes – Cheese can be frozen by adhering to the following advice:

Hard or semi-hard cheese can be frozen but is best cut into either half or pound blocks. Wrap the cheese in cling film and place in freezer bags. (this will help keep in moisture and prevent it from drying out) After freezing, the cheese may become a bit crumbly, but will still retain its flavor. Personally – I have found that it is more suitable for cooking once frozen.

Note:  Frozen cheese should be only frozen up to 4 to 6 months. The cheeze should be thawed out in the refrigerator and not at room temperature and consumed fairly soon after thawing.
