Can I Skip A Period?
August 11, 2009 No Comments
There are several reasons in why a period may be skipped – such as :
- Severe weight loss/strenuous exercising
- Birth Control
- Pregnancy
- Hormonal Imbalance
- No particular reason (sometimes happens without a cause)
Some women regulate their periods by deliberately skipping a period for a special occassion such as a wedding/honeymoon. This can be acheived on birth control pills ’triphasic pills’, such as – Trifeme, Triphasil, Triquilar and Logynon.
E.g. By skipping the last row (placebo or ‘dummy’ pills) with a triphasic pill and starting a new packet, some spotting or minimal bleeding may occur: this is due the brown pills at the beginning of the pack being a much lower dose than the mustard ones at the end of the pack. Therefore starting a new pack and taking the mustard pills for a while will help.
Note: This method of regulating periods should not be carried out regularly, as you should always try and adhere to your prescription instructions, as doing so may intefere with your ‘birth control’.
