Can I Vote?



To vote in the Uk parliamentary election you need to be age 18 or over.


The following criteria is also applicable as to whether you are eligible vote:






  • Resident in a constituency and listed on the electoral register.
  • Not in a category which prohibits from voting – such as: members of the house of lords, prisoners, previous election malpractice, people who are compulsory detained in psychiatric institutions.
  • A UK citizen or of a Commonwealth country and the Republic of Ireland.


When can I not vote if I am age over 18?


  • foreign nationals (excluding citizens of the Irish Republic and Commonwealth countries resident in Britain)
  • Members of the House of Lords
  • Sentenced prisoners
  • People convicted within the previous five years of illegal election practice
